CARDIAC SURGERIES

About

This involves using veins from your leg or arteries from inside your chest or from your arm to bypass blockages in the arteries which deliver blood and oxygen to heart muscles. These blockages cause chest pain (Angina) or heart attacks (Myocardial Infarction). If required, you may be placed on a heart-lung bypass machine which takes over the job of your heart and lungs. This machine adds oxygen to the blood, keeps the blood warm and keeps the blood pumping through the body while the heart is operated on. Once the surgery is completed, the heart-lung bypass machine is stopped and your heart starts beating again. The surgery lowers the risk of heart attacks, relief from angina and symptoms, improves survival.

Heart Valves allow blood to pass through the heart in only one direction. They may be narrowed or leaking and may be repaired or replaced by mechanical or tissue valves. Procedure is done under general anaesthesia You will be placed on a heart-lung bypass machine which takes over the job of your heart and lungs. This machine adds oxygen to the blood, keeps the blood warm and keeps the blood pumping through the body while the heart is operated on. Once the surgery is completed, the heart-lung bypass machine is stopped and your heart starts beating again.

This is a single surgical procedure where a surgeon performs both coronary artery bypass grafts to treat blocked coronary arteries and replaces a malfunctioning valve in the heart, addressing both issues simultaneously.

Means repeat heart surgeries like second coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) procedure or a second valve replacement surgery, respectively, after having previously had one of these operations due to the progression of their heart disease or complications from the initial surgery.

The aorta is the large artery responsible for carrying oxygen rich blood from the heart to the rest of the body. Aortic surgery is usually done on the aorta because it is enlarged(aneurysm) and or diseased.(dissection or coarctation)The three parts of the aorta are Ascending Aorta  Arch of Aorta &Descending Aorta A cut will be made in the front of the chest to operate on the first part of the aorta - the ascending aorta, or on the arch of aorta .A cut in the back of the left chest wall will be used to operate on the third part of the aorta – the descending aorta. You will be placed on a heart-lung ‘bypass’ machine which takes over the job of your heart and lungs. This machine adds oxygen to the blood, keeps the blood warm and keeps the blood pumping through the body while the heart is operated on.An artificial graft (eg Dacron or Gortex) will be used to replace the affected aorta. After the aortic surgery is completed, the heart-lung bypass machine is stopped and the heart starts beating again. The incision is then closed. This surgery is not a total cure and you will almost certainly be on medication for the long term. The aim of this surgery is to improve your quality of life and longevity.

A Bentall procedure is a cardiac surgery that replaces the aortic valve and ascending aorta with a synthetic graft.Aortic root replacement surgery may replace both your aortic root and your aortic valve. Or, it may replace your aortic root but leave your valve.

This procedure removes the plaque material, or blockage in the lining of the carotid artery which goes to the brain. It clears out of the diseased part of the main artery (carotid artery) going to the brain to reduce the risk of stroke.

This is an open-heart surgery to treat hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a thickened heart muscle. During the procedure, your surgeon removes a portion of thickened heart tissue. This allows blood to flow through your heart more easily.

is a surgical procedure that opens blocked arteries in the legs and arms. It's a treatment for peripheral artery disease (PAD), which is caused by plaque buildup
